Do you have a roof moss problem?
Moss holds and absorbs a lot of moisture. It can add a lot of weight to your roof tiles. It can also lead to damage of the roof tiles with the growth creeping into small cracks and keeping the surfaces damp. Plus, rainwater flowing off the roof and down through the gutters is also impeded, so water ingress and leaks or damp indoors can be a problem too.
In this photo you can see where the damp has penetrated the roof tile and joints, right where the moss growths had been sitting. On a rainy day even more moisture would be found on these mossy spots.

When or how often should you have your roof cleaned?
Generally, roof moss removal is best done anywhere from once every two to five years. For
areas with faster growing moss such as those shaded areas, with plenty of mature trees and a
damp environment, this may need more regular inspections and cleaning. If you notice moss
falling to the ground, blocked gutters or visibly thick growth on roof tiles, then most likely you
need roof moss removal ASAP.
